After more than 15 years in business, Tata Sky has decided that it will change its name to Tata Play. Customers won't have to look for alternative ways to stream Netflix anymore, as the popular OTT programme will be available starting from January 27. Most popular video streaming apps, including Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar, Voot, and others, are currently supported by the service.

In addition, people who have a Tata Sky connection at home but haven't recharged in a long time will receive free reconnection assistance from the firm. It's also getting rid of the Rs 175 service visit fee.

What is a Binge+Smart set-top Box?

Users can also use the set-top box to browse standard TV channels and apps from the Google Play store.

The subscription also includes access to OTT services like as Disney+Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Zee5, and ErosNow for Rs 299 per month. If the customer already has an OTT service subscription, they may simply log in and enjoy it.

What does Harish Nagpal Say about the Name Change?

Harit Nagpal, MD & CEO of Tata Play said:  "While we originally started as a DTH company, we have now fully transformed into a content distribution company. As the needs of a small base of customers were changing, and they were consuming content on OTT platforms, we wanted to create a platform and provide them with a unified experience. So, we launched Binge. We also offer a niche broadband business,"

“We also welcome Netflix to our family. Plus, we are making service visits free for all customers starting today, and our de-active DTH customers can continue to recharge and get restarted on the platform with no re-connection charges. The name Tata Play thus signifies our expanded range of product and services. The new identity is an outcome of our desire to be future-ready while making tomorrow better than today for homes and families,” He added.

He also mentioned: “I firmly believe that it’s one thing to own content, quite another to make it accessible. Distribution is what makes content easily discoverable for the masses, consumed, and talked about. Our DTH business has a sizeable market share and we’ll continue our endeavour to expand the TV viewing universe. Our Broadband business with 100 per cent fiber network provides impressive speeds, and that’s why we renamed it to Tata Play Fiber,”
