To create awareness on kindness to every possible human being, the World Kindness day was introduced. World Kindness Day is celebrated on 13th November annually. It is celebrated in various countries, such as Canada, Australia, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Italy and India. In the United Kingdom, it is initiated by David Jamilly, who co-founded Kindness Day UK with Louise Burfitt-Dons.

World Kindness Day 2021 Australia

World Kindness Day was first started in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement. It is observed on 13th November each year and has been a part of Australia's Federal School Calendar since 2012. In 2012, at the request of the Chairman of World Kindness Australia, World Kindness Day was put on the Federal School Calendar and the Minister of School Education, Early Childhood, and Youth. The Hon Peter Garrett gave a Declaration of Support regarding World Kindness Australia and put World Kindness Day on the National School Calendar for more than 9000 schools. In 2012 in Australia, Marie Bashir, Governor of New South Wales, hosted an event at Government House to celebrate World Kindness Day and also received a Cool To Be Kind Award from year 3 & 4 students. Australian Councils representing more than 1.3 million residents have signed Declarations of Support for World Kindness Australia, putting World Kindness Day on the Council Calendar of Events. Events include THE BIG HUG, Global Flashmob, etc.  

World Kindness Day 2021 Singapore

Singapore started to celebrate World Kindness Day for the first time on 13th November 2009. In Singapore in 2009, 45,000 yellow flowers were given away. The 13th November World Kindness Movement conference was held in Tokyo in 1998, and the 35th anniversary of the Small Kindness Movement of Japan World Kindness Day is about acceptance, diversity and love. The day was initiated to take opportunities to showcase acts of kindness towards others. These acts may include:

  • Complimenting someone on their outfit

  • Buying somebody a snack or food

  • Giving a card with a lovely message to someone

  • Calling a friend or family member you have not spoken for a while

  • Taking care of a chore or tidying a room for your mom
