As per NFL, “Wayne Mackie, a vice president of officiating for the NFL who managed the league’s training and development efforts and was one of three decision-makers in the Instant Replay command center, died unexpectedly Friday night at the age of 62”. Wayne Mackie is a long-serving official who oversaw eight postseason games. He saw ten seasons on the field, which includes two Conference Championship games. He held the position of head linesman for Super Bowl 50, in which the Denver Broncos won against the Carolina Panthers. When Mackie was a child, he was playing BasketBall in New York City’s famed West 4th Street tournament, where he had the thought of becoming an officiator. He held the position of Officiator in the Atlantic 10 Conference from 2000-2001. Later he joined the Big East Conference in the period  2002-2006. He became the officiator for the Arena League from 2002 to 2006.
