Vidya Poshak Scholarship - Features

Vidya Poshak Scholarship is offered under the Endowment of Nurturing Merit (ENM). A well structured and focussed programme, its main aim to break the poverty cycle by financially assisting the students coming from economically challenged families, to pay their college fees, transportation, and exam fees. For the bright and meritorious students, an additional amount for coaching is provided. Textbooks, computers with wi-fi facility and career guidance programmes are offered to the students through libraries and other infrastructure available. Professional skill-based training and soft skills like communication presentations are provided to the students to increase their employment opportunities.
 

The identification of deserving students is based on academic merit and need/poverty. Poverty assessment is done by personally visiting student's homes. This ensures that only deserving students are benefitted from the scheme. Annually on an average more 10000 applications are received from 2000 villages and towns. 4000 houses across 50000 km are visited by our volunteers and field staff for poverty assessment. In the year 2019, deserving and meritorious students are identified by the volunteers of  NGO-Vidya Poshak. In the year 2019, 2400 houses in 58 taluks were visited by the volunteers. Out of this, 344 students were inducted into the programme in which 65% of them were girls.

The program has touched many students lives who were in dire need of financial support to continue their higher education and complete it. Some of the benefits gained by students from this programme:

-    Timely support has made it possible for many students to choose the right courses and  professional courses like engineering/medicine 

-    More than 50,000 textbooks have been lent through libraries/ learning centers •

-    Hundreds of students beneficiary got jobs, and the scenario of their families have been changed.
