The Udupi Paryaya Utsava is a biennial festival held in Udupi, a temple town in Karnataka's coastal region. Every other year, thousands of devotees from across the country visit the Paryaya Festival, where officiating priests from one Ashta Mathas hand over their responsibilities to other pontiffs.

You'll need to find an elevated position to get a room in a hotel if possible or climb any building that allows the public access to levels 1.

  3. Visitors can enjoy delicious meals provided by the temple as part of their daily commitment to society, beginning at 11 a.m. During Paryaya, expect some extra dishes.

  4. Visit the temple when there are no significant events or poojas so that you can get in with fewer people.
