Top 40 Medical Colleges NIRF Ranking List 2020: All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, was ranked as India's top medical college in the fifth edition of the NIRF Ranking 2020 for medical colleges published on Thursday by HRD Minister. In the MHRD's NIRF 2020 Top 40 Medical Colleges Ranking List 2020, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, and the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, rank fourth and fifth positions. NIRF:
National Institutional Ranking Framework is an annual ranking and was introduced in 2015, with the publication of the first rankings in 2016. NIRF 2020 listed institutions in 10 categories: University, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Business, Medical, Legal, Architecture, and Dental.
For the year 2020, the top three medical schools remain the same as last year with Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore (CMC Vellore) in second and third respectively. The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, and the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, rank fourth and fifth respectively in the top five.
