The Sound of Music is a musical drama film produced and directed by Robert Wise. This movie was released in 1965. The movie casts Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood, Charmian Carr, and Eleanor Parker. The movie is an adaptation of the 1959 stage musical, composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The movie’s screenplay was written by Ernest Lehman, and adapted from the stage musical's book by Lindsay and Crouse. The movie is about a young Austrian postulant in Salzburg, Austria, in 1938. That postulant is sent to the house of a retired naval officer and widower to serve as governess to his seven children.

Dame Julie Andrews DBE is an actress, singer, and author, from England. She has received many accolades throughout her career over seven decades. Her accolades include a British Academy Film Award, an Academy Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. 

2. Christopher Plummer

Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer was an actor, from Canada. His career was successful for over seven decades, and he got recognition for his performances in movies, on stage, and on television. He won many accolades, which include an Academy Award, two Tony Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Grammy Award nomination. He was one of few recipients of the "Triple Crown of Acting" to also get a Grammy nomination. The actor died on 5th February 2021.

3. Richard Haydn

Richard Haydn was a comedy actor, from England. He is famous for his performances which include his role as Professor Oddley in Ball of Fire, Thomas Rogers in And Then There Were None,  Roger in No Time for Love, Emperor Franz Joseph in The Emperor Waltz, Baron Popoff in The Merry Widow, the Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland, William Brown in Mutiny on the Bounty, and Max Detweiler in The Sound of Music. He died on 25th April 1985.

4. Peggy Wood

Peggy Wood was an actress on stage, in movies, and on television, from America. She is well known for her performance as the title character in the CBS Television series Mama, for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She starred as Naomi, Ruth's mother-in-law, in The Story of Ruth. She gave her final screen appearance as Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, for which she won an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award.

5. Charmian Carr

Charmian Carr was an actress and singer, from America. She was famous for her character as Liesl, the eldest Von Trapp daughter in the 1965 movie version of The Sound of Music. Charmian Carr was born as the second child of actress Rita Oehmen and musician Brian Farnon. She died on 17th September 2016. She is 73 years old when she died.

Eleanor Parker was an actress, from America. She got the nominations for three Academy Awards for her characters in the movies Caged, Detective Story, and Interrupted Melody. The first movie of her won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. She is famous for her roles in the movies Scaramouche, Of Human Bondage, The Naked Jungle, A Hole in the Head, The Man with the Golden Arm, The Sound of Music and The Oscar.
