The Sital Sasthi Festival is seen as the marriage function of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This is celebrated as the Sital Sasthi Yatra festival and this festival is celebrated for a period of 5 days. On this festival, a family from Sambalpur plays the role of Parvati’s father and mother. Then they give the hands of Parvati to Shiva, which is the main part of the marriage. Lord Shiva is known as Swayam Bhu, which means he came directly without his parents. So for Lord Shiva, no one plays as parents. Everyone on this day will share their wishes with their relatives and friends.

Sital Sasthi Date 2022 is a much-questioned topic by the Hindus of the Shaivite group.  The first day of this festival is called Patra Pendi, on which the selected family will  adopt Parvati. The idol of Parvati comes to the home of approved parents on this day. Then as a part of this ritual, the idol of the Bride is taken during the night for the marriage ceremony. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva, escorted by the other Hindu Gods and Goddesses, comes to the place where the marriage takes place. The holy yatra is led by Lord Hanuman and Lord Narasimha. This marriage includes all the formal customs and rituals in a divine way.

Once the marriage ceremonies were over, the divine couple Shiva and Parvati began to make the journey in the town. This means the idols of Shiva and Paravati are carried by the people in the temples around the town. This procedure is known as Nagar Parikrama, which is also called Sital Sasthi Yatra. On this occasion, a large number of transgenders take part in the celebration. This is because Lord Shiva is also called “Ardhanareeswara”, which means half Shiva and half Shakthi.
