PDC World Championship
The 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship was the 30th World Championship, conducted by the Professional Darts Corporation since it split from the now-defunct British Darts Organisation. The event happened at Alexandra Palace in London from 15th December 2022 to 3rd January 2023. Steve Beaton made a record-extending 32nd consecutive World Championship appearance but was defeated in the first round by Danny van Trijp. Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld was the second player to make 30 World Championship appearances.

Michael Smith has won over Michael van Gerwen with a 7-4 win. It is his first-ever PDC World Darts Championship. Bully Boy and MVG began on the volcano, with the former scoring a nine-darter in the second set. However, Michael Smith pulled away by winning three sets in a row before sealing the deal in the match's 11th to win his first world title. He also won the 2006 World Masters. He threw a televised nine-dart finish at the 2007 Masters of Darts, thus becoming the youngest player to do both at the age of 17. Michael is regarded as one of the best players of all time.
