Parshuram Jayanti 2022 Significance

The name Parshuram is derived from Rama and the word Parshu, which means axe. Lord Parshuram was a devotee of Lord Shiva, who bestowed upon him the mystical weapon parshu in order for him to preserve the earth from the Kshatriyas' brutality. Lord Parshuram is supposed to be Lord Vishnu's sixth incarnation. He was wedded to Dharavi, a Lakshmi incarnation. Parshuram's avatar, according to Hindu mythology, is immortal and still lives on Earth.

Parshuram Jayanti History

According to the Hari Vansh Purana, a King named Kartaveerya Arjun ruled Mahishmati Nagri in Central India. He participated in harmful deeds with other Kshatriyas, making life miserable for commoners. As a result, Goddess Earth prayed to Lord Vishnu to save living beings from the Kshatriyas' cruelty. Lord Vishnu was reborn as the son of Renuka and Jamdagani to aid the goddess. The monarch and the Kshatriyas were destroyed by the son, a warrior named Parshuram, who freed the Earth from their violence and wickedness. As a result, peace was restored. Legend has it that Lord Parshuram got his parshu (axe) from Lord Shiva, of whom he was an ardent devotee. It is also said that Lord Parshuram created the western part of Indian coastal land, including the states of Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Maharashtra, as we know them today.
