On December 15, 1986, Cablevision introduced News 12 Long Island, the first 24-hour regional cable news service in the United States, to consumers on its Long Island system. Cablevision has grown the reach of News 12 over time by adding new networks to its network. Patrick Dolan, son of Newsday majority owner Charles Dolan and brother of James L. Dolan, ruled over the network when it was owned by Newsday Media Holdings. Dolan has been retained as a senior network advisor by Altice USA, which purchased Cablevision in 2016.

Weekday mornings from 5-8 a.m., Elizabeth Hashagen co-anchors News 12 Long Island's, Morning Show. Hashagen has covered breaking news stories from the anchor desk and throughout Long Island since joining News 12 Long Island. During the days following September 11, she was also in charge of News 12's live network coverage from Ground Zero.
Hashagen's exciting exploits inside the cockpit have drawn viewers in as she flew with the Navy's Blue Angels, rappelled from a water tower with Nassau Police Emergency Services, was attacked by Police K-9s, and completed Police EVOC, Firearms, and Recruit Training. Her weekly series "Go Green," "Best of Long Island," and now "12 Making a Difference" have all received awards. Hashagen has demonstrated to Long Island viewers that she is a capable and compelling journalist with a large heart as a reporter and anchor.

Erin Colton
Erin Colton of News 12 Long Island earned a New York Emmy Award for her work as a news anchor. After graduating from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications in May 2004, she joined the team. Colton began her career as a production assistant before progressing to become a writer, producer, sports anchor, and reporter.
Colton, a Long Island native, is an enthusiastic sports fan as well as a dedicated athlete who has played varsity basketball, tennis, and lacrosse for the Wantagh Warriors. Doug Geed is an anchor and a founding member of News 12 Long Island, which began broadcasting in December 1986. Geed co-anchors News 12's Daytime Show, reports in the field, and is the creator, producer, and host of the Emmy Award-Winning East End Show. He is a graduate of Syosset High School and the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Geed has received ten Emmy Awards in total, and the LI Press Club honored him, Journalist of the Year, in 2004. He and his three children live in Suffolk County with his wife of nearly 32 years.

Rich Hoffman is the morning and daytime meteorologist for News 12 Long Island. In September 2002, Hoffman joined the News 12 weather crew. Hoffman loved going to the beach with his family when he was a kid growing up on Long Island in the town of Babylon. His family's decision to visit beach favorites like Cedar and Gilgo Beach was constantly influenced by the weather. Hoffman was tracking weather systems by the time he was nine years old. He instantly became enamored with predictions. Hoffman moved north after graduating from West Babylon High School to pursue his dream of becoming a meteorologist.
