Significance Of National Organ Donor Day 2022

Every year on November 27, India observes National Organ Donation Day. For the past ten years, the day has been observed. The main goal of national organ donation day is to raise awareness about the selfless efforts made for humanity and re-establish our faith in humanity. The first Organ Donation Day was observed in 2010. It is organized by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization, which is part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (NOTTO).

National Donor Day History

The Saturn Corporation and its United Auto Workers partners, the United States Department of Health and Human Services, and numerous nonprofit health organizations established National Donor Day in 1998. In the United States, more than 120,000 people are waiting for a life-saving organ donation. Many nonprofit health organizations across the country hold blood and marrow drives and organ and tissue donation drives. Someone in the United States requires blood every two seconds, resulting in a daily need for over 41,000 donations. Every type of donation helps to save a life. While we can donate blood, platelets, tissue, marrow, and some organs at any time, the majority of organs are donated after death. A single donor can help save up to 8 lives. Every 53 days, they can donate a pint of blood. One pint of blood can save the lives of up to three people. If you've never considered donating, you're one of the 17% of non-donors. However, only 37 percent of the US population can donate blood.

Importance Of National Organ Donor Day 2022

National Donor Day was chosen as the ideal day for Americans to show their support for those in need of organ transplants. On this day, the public is encouraged to join an organ donation registry to help the many thousands of organ transplant patients. Did you know that as an organ donor, your eye and tissue donation after death can save up to 8 lives or heal more than 75? That's an incredible way to show your love for humanity.
