WAEC Syllabus For Literature In English 2021
WAEC was established in 1952, the council contributed to education in countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Gambia. The council also conducts examinations and distributes certificates to the meritorious students. They also created a fund to develop the education system in West Africa. Dr. Adeyegbe, former HNO of WAEC Nigeria told "the council has developed a team of well-trained and highly motivated staff, and has administered Examinations that are valid and relevant to the educational aspirations of member countries". More than three million candidates have registered for the exams which were coordinated by WAEC. The information regarding the english literature syllabus is given below.

WAEC Literature Syllabus in english
Papers 1. Paper one is OBJ paper which contains fifty multiple type choice questions. The questions will be taken from the following topics:
General Knowledge: In the general knowledge section, twenty questions will be taken.
Prose: There will be a prose comprehension passage and five questions will be taken from it.
Poem: There will be a poem comprehension passage and five questions will be taken from it.
Text/Novel: Almost twenty questions will be from novels written by Shakespeare.
Paper 2: This is a theory/essay paper and it contains African Prose in section A and Non-African Prose in section B. Totally four questions will be taken from this section, two from section A and two from section B
Paper 3: The final paper. This paper has questions based on literature Drama and Poetry.
There will be four different sections in this particular paper. They are Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D. Section A compromises questions taken from an African Drama. While Section B questions will be taken from Non- African Drama. Section C questions will be taken from African Poetry and Section D will have questions based on Non-African Poetry. This paper contains eight essay questions, two for each section.

PROSE
African Prose: “Second Class Citizen” written by Buchi Emecheta , “Unexpected Joy at Dawn” written by Alex Agyei-Agyiri.
Non-African Prose: “Invisible Man” written by Ralph Ellison, “Wuthering Heights” written by Emily Brontë, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” written by William Shakespeare.
DRAMA
African Drama: “Let me Die Alone” written by John K. Kargbo, “The Lion and the Jewel” written by Wole Soyinka.
Non-African Drama: “Look Back in Anger” written by John Osborne, “Fences” written by August Wilson.
POETRY
African Poetry: “Black Woman” written by Leopold Sedar Senghor, “The Leader and the Led” written by Niyi Osundare, “The Grieved Lands” written by Agostinho Neto.
Non-African Poetry: “The Journey of the Magi” written by T. S. Eliot, “Caged Bird” written by Maya Angelou, “The Good-Morrow” written by John Donne.
