The Governor of a State is appointed by the President of India. The Governor holds office for five years and acts as a Central Government representative. In this article, we have for you the list of Governors of the Indian States. The Governor of a State lays down legislative, Judicial, Executive and Financial powers and has the right to address, summon, differ and dissolve the State Legislatures.
The Governor also reserves the right to make advances from the State Contingency Fund in case of unforeseen situations. The Chief Justice of a State High Court is elected with the consent of the State Governor. Governor can also elect the Chief Minister for their states if no party wins the Lok Sabha elections and can disqualify any member from elections with the consent of the Election Commission. The state budget is prepared to keep the opinion of the Governor of India.
