A fight between Epic Games and Google started over the ban on the Play Store. Both the Apple and Google companies have removed the popular Fortnite multiplayer gaming app from their platform. The Fortnite is no longer available in either the Google Play Store or in the Apple App Store. The company that makes the Fortnite Gaming App, Epic Games, has launched a direct payment plan that bypasses Google and Apple. This is a payment system that allows app users to pay for Direct Epic Games.
Why did Apple and Google Banned Fortnite?
Apple has removed Fortnite from the App Store in response to Epic Games implementing this direct payment system without prior approval from Apple. Apple said in a statement, Epic Games took the unfortunate step of violating the guidelines of the App Store, which are applied equally to every developer and designed to keep the store safe for our users. As a consequence, their Fortnite app was removed from the store. Epic enabled a feature in its app that was not reviewed or approved by Apple, and they did so with the express intention of breaching the App Store guidelines on in-app payments applicable to any developer selling digital goods or services.
Google also took action and removed Fortnite from Google Play Store. A Google spokesperson said in a statement to The Verge, "The open Android ecosystem lets developers distribute apps across multiple app stores. Google has consistent policies that are fair for game developers who choose to use the Play Store and keep the store safe for users. While Fortnite is still available on Android, we can't make it available on Play any more because it violates Google policies.
