Reports showed multiple small withdrawals that are unaccounted for. Several other individuals have made reports of identical transactions in their accounts. Currently, the BPI app and the website are down, unavailable or unreliable, perhaps due to the hasty volume of people logging in and checking their accounts. The maintenance work ran from October 14, 2022 (Friday), 10:00 PM to October 15, 2022 (Saturday), 2:00 PM.

Is BPI Online Down?

The BPI's online app was down for its users on Wednesday, in response to the transaction errors. The Bank of the Philippine Islands stated Wednesday it is operating to switch duplicate transactions during the New Year's Eve shopping rush after the bank's social media accounts were deluged with objections. In a report on Wednesday morning, the Ayala-led bank ensured its clients that their account "is safe and secure." Customers also stated they had a problem accessing their online bank accounts. BPI said the reversal of incorrect transactions would be "automatic," indicating no need for affected clients to call the bank or file a complaint.

BPI Issue Today

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) had obtained many of its users who were concerned about their savings when they were reported about "duplicate" debits posted on their accounts and having difficulty accessing BPI's online bank app. THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is corresponding with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) over the problem of double debit transactions. "The BSP is near coordinating with BPI in association to the double debit transaction simulating BPI account holders," the central bank said in a report on their social media platforms on Wednesday. It also acknowledged that BPI has recognized the "root causality of the operational error" and has committed to reversing the "erroneous transactions" and restoring online banking services as soon as possible.
