Indian Olympic Winner List 2021, the athletes from India Bagged several medals in this Season for India. This Olympics is indeed a special Olympics as the Athletes bagged more medals than the last olympics. With 126 athletes across 8 sports disciplines, India has sent in the biggest contingent to the Tokyo Olympics. Indian athletes participated in 69 events, the highest ever for the country. The athletes won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in their respective events. Neeraj Chopra won gold for the country in men’s javelin throw, he won the last medal for the country which tallied 7 medals in total, and broke the record of LAst olympics that happened in London. In the 2012 London Games, India won six medals - two silver and four bronze. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics was the highest tally at the Olympics. This was changed by Neeraj Chopra’s golden throw at the Tokyo Olympics. The 23 year old javelin thrower created a history in the books of Indian Athletics by winning a gold as he is the first person to win a gold medal in Athletics since the country started taking part in the games in 1920. The list of athletes who won medals for the country are Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Lovlina Borgohain, PV Sindhu, Bajrang Punia and the Men's Hockey Team.

 MiraBai Chanu - Silver medal - women’s 49kg weightlifting

The first medal was bagged by weightlifter Mirabai Chanu with a silver medal in the women’s 49KG category at the Tokyo Olympics- this was her first Olympics medal.

Lovlina Borgohain - Bronze Medal - women’s welterweight

Lovlina won a bronze medal in the women’s welterweight 64-69 category boxing at the Tokyo 2020. On her games debut she lost against top speed Busenaz Surmemneli of Turkey in the semifinals. Lovlina had defeated Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen in the Quarterfinals which assured her the medal. 

PV Sindhu - Bronze medal - women’s singles badminton 

The queen of Badminton became the first Indian women and only the second Indian athlete after Sushil Kumar to win two individual Olympic medals. PV Sindhu beat China’s HE Bing Jiao to win the bronze medal in the Women’s singles. 

Ravi Kumar Dahiya- silver medal - men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling 

He was also an Olympic medal debutant and got another medal for India. The 23 year old wrestler lost against world champion Zavur Uguev of ROC, thus ending up with a silver medal.

Indian Hockey Team - Bronze medal - men’s hockey 

After a long wait of 41 years, the Indian Hockey Team finally has an Olympic medal since the gold at the Moscow 1980 Olympics. India got back at Germany with a 5-4 score and claimed the bronze medal.   

Bajrang Punia - Bronze Medal - men’s 65KG wrestling 

Bajrang became the third Indian Debutant to win a medal at the Tokyo 2020. Two-time Asian champion Bajrang Punia beat Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov, a World Championships silver medallist, in the men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling playoff to claim the bronze medal. 

Neeraj Chopra - Gold Medal - men’s javelin throw 

Neeraj Chopra became the Second athlete to win India’s second individual Olympic gold medal after Abhinav Bindra. Neeraj Chopra threw 87.58m which helped him to clinch the gold medal. The medal was India’s Seventh at Tokyo 2020.
