According to the (CHP) California Highway Patrol, Dharmesh A. Patel of Pasadena, California, was after the vehicle wheel when it ran over the side of a coastal road at a place known as the Devil's Slide. Also inside the vehicle were another adult and two children, who had not been identified. All four survived and were transported to a regional hospital for treatment of what the CHP says were severe injuries. California officials state that the driver of a Tesla, Dr. Dharmesh Patel, who descended over 250 feet off a San Mateo roadway on Monday, has been arrested for murder and child abuse.

According to reports from California resident Dharmesh Patel, the husband and father have been arrested for allegedly purposely driving his family off a cliff inside their Tesla. Police have stated that 41-year-old Dharmesh Patel of Pasadena, California, tried to kill his family on Monday by propelling them off a 250-foot cliff at Devil's Slide in San Mateo. According to an NDTV report, the entire family was rescued, and all four were taken to the hospital.
