Dave Chappelle's new Netflix special 8:46, Is A Joke YouTube channel posted to Netflix in the early morning hours on Friday. The special of the title is the amount of time it took for Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin to get his knee on Floyd's back; a moment caught on camera.

Chappelle said, "Does celebrity matter? No. It's the streets that speak for themselves. They just don't need me. I've kept my mouth shut, and still, I'll keep my mouth shut.

On CNN's New Day, Lemon responded to Chappelle, at first saying he agrees with the comedian's argument in certain respects.

I don't really care what we have to say about the young people out there in the streets, "Lemon said. "They think that part of the world we've created and what we've done, maybe we haven't been moving fast enough, and maybe we're not strong enough. So they are fighting out there, and they said, 'Listen, we're tired of what's going on

Lemon added, "But this is not a moment of modesty, I do believe. I think this is a time when we can all use our power to do whatever we can, and  to show young people and others that we are helping them, and that does not mean taking all the credit for it. Lemon also said there was some irony that the special Chappelle is called 8:46, and that "he uses this platform to talk about it."

Owens took in a move the comments of Chappelle. "The # DaveChappelle clip insulting me to every Democrat is tweeting me: I'm not a leftist," Owens said in a tweet Friday. "I have a sense of humor, and I think comedians SHOULD make people fun."
