History Of Chamunda Mataji Temple

In ancient times, Chotila was known as Chotgadh. It was originally a Sodha Parmar holding, but it was taken from Jagsio Parmar by the Khachar Kathis, who turned it into one of their main seats. The Chotila home is where the majority of the Khachar Kathis come from. In 1566 AD, the Kathis took control of Chotila. During the British rule, it was the headquarters of an Agency thana. The tale goes that when the Demons Chand and Mund tried to capture Devi Mahakali, the Devi chopped off their heads and brought them to Maa Ambika, who then told Mahakali that she would be worshipped as Chamunda Devi. Maa has also given him the shawl that, when sat on, will allow him to fly. This man had been tasked with saving the jewels and money taken by the British and then distributing them to the destitute. However, he was arrested and sentenced to prison once while doing so. He had a dream about Maa while sleeping, and Maa reminded him of his vow. Kario Bhil acknowledged his error and offered to construct another Maa idol. Chamunda Maa, on the other hand, was dayalu and self-manifested another idol. This explains why Chamunda Maa has two idols.
