• At first, it seemed impossible to solve because we did not know the cylindrical base's radius nor the volume of the irregularly shaped top of the bottle.

• The key insight is the amount of air in both bottles is the same.

• Since the water level is 15 cm in the second bottle, the air is 21 – 15 = 6 cm, and that is completely contained within the cylindrical body of the bottle.

• So now imagine a completely cylindrical bottle. We know it would be 12 cm of water and 6 cm of air.

• The height of the bottle is 12 + 6 = 18. The fraction that is water is therefore 12/18 = 2/3, and that’s the answer!
