Bangladesh Liberation War was fought by Bangladesh in 1971 against Pakistan to become an independent nation. It led to the secession of East Pakistan from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the establishment of Bangladesh. India and East Pakistan fought West Pakistan for 9 months. The war brought many atrocities, 10 million refugees, and 3 million people killed by the Pakistani military. Instrument of Surrender on 16 December 1971 was signed by Lieutenant General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, CO of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
A written surrender agreement allowed Pakistan to surrender in the Bangladesh Liberation War, marking the Indo-Pakistani War's end in 1971. On 16 December 1971, the surrender occurred at the Ramna Racecourse in Dhaka. Many people cheered as Lieutenant General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi and Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora signed the agreement.
