Yadagirigutta Temple: History

According to ancient script in Tretayugam, there was a sage named Yadarishi and he is the son of the great sage Rishyasrunga and Santa Devi. Yadarishi performed penance inside a cave with Anjaneya's blessings and Lord Narasimha was pleased by his action and appeared before him in five various forms such as Sri Jwala Narasimha, SriGandabherunda, Sri Yogananda, Sri Ugra and Sri Lakshminarasimha which later made into finely sculpted forms. And that is worshiped as Pancha Narasimha Kshetram. Based on Skanda Purana, there is a cave temple for Lord Vishnu where the invincible Sudharshna chakra is believed to be moved in the direction like a compass guiding them directly towards this temple. In this temple Aaradhana and Puja are performed according to Pancharatra Agamam. In the 15th Century, the Vijayanagara king Sri Krishnadevarayalu had said about this temple in his autobiography that before going to any war he would always visit this temple praying the lord for victory.
