Women's Entrepreneurship Day 2021
Every year on November 19, the Women's Entrepreneurship Day is observed. Women are responsible for about 85% of purchases and close to $20 trillion in worldwide spending. On the other hand, women are underrepresented in the workforce, earning only around 10% of global revenue. We've observed an increase in the number of women entrepreneurs succeeding and owning profitable enterprises throughout the years. Women's Entrepreneurship Day honours this contribution and works to create a more welcoming atmosphere for female entrepreneurs.
Women's Entrepreneurship Day - History
The founder Wendy Diamond, a social entrepreneur and humanitarian, volunteered with the Adelante Foundation in Honduras, distributing microcredit to the country's poorest women. This prompted her to start the Women's Entrepreneurship Day Organization in 2013, a non-governmental, non-racial, non-gender, and non-political volunteer non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women and alleviating poverty. She founded WEDO to raise awareness about the condition of the 250 million girls living in poverty worldwide who deserve a chance. It also appeared to empower the world's 4 billion women. The organisation launched its first women's entrepreneurship day in New York City in 2014 at the United Nations.

When women engage, they are more likely to work in low-paying jobs and areas with fewer social safety nets. The COVID-19 issue exacerbates this, with a financial exclusion, the gender digital divide, a more significant weight of unpaid care work, and other gender-based inequities having disproportionate economic and social effects for women and girls.
