What Is Ponniyin Selvan?
Ponniyin Selvan is a historical fiction novel based on actual events, written by author Kalki Krishnamurthy in the Tamil language. The story was first serialized in the weekly editions of Kalki, a Tamil magazine, from 29th October 1950 to 16th May 1954. After that integrated, five volumes in 1955. With 2,210 pages, the novel tells the story of the early days of Chola prince Arulmozhivarman. Kalki went to Sri Lanka three times to get details for inspiration.
Who Is The Husband Of Nandini In Ponniyin Selvan?
Writer Kalki gives no clear evidence in the novel which tells Nandhini to be the wife or daughter of Veera Pandian. In one incident, a crowned small boy of the Pandian kingdom calls Nandhini his mother. In another incident, Nandhini begs Karikalan to leave Veerapandiyan alive when she takes care of wounded Veerapandiyan. But Veerapandiyan is killed. After that, Nandini is taken to a place where she has been insisted to perform Sati. In that situation, Pazhuvetarayar helps Nandhini. These two incidents depict Nandini was married to Veerapandiyan.
In another incident, the author says that Veerapandiyan married Mandakini as she resembles Nandini. Mandakini is Nandini’s mother, which means Veerapandiyan is Nandini’s father. However, in the novel, Kalki does not give clear evidence to tell Nandhini to be Veera Pandian s daughter or wife.

In another instance, Parthibenthiran Pallaven falls for Nandhini after hearing the story between Adithya Karikalan and Nandhini.

Nandhini is a person who uses everyone to attain her target. She uses many of them to kill Adithya. In the novel, it is mentioned that Nandini succeeds in achieving her goal. Nandhini finally murdered Adithya by calling him her palace. And Adithya learns already that she would kill him, then also he goes there. But it’s not known what happened to Nandhini after killing Adhitya. She disappears from the novel after killing Adithya. As per some stories, she returns to her village after killing Adithya. It is still a mystery to find out how Nandhini dies.
