He attained the throne on 8th September 2022, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. He is the Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay from 1952 to his accession. He is the oldest and the longest-serving heir apparent in British history. He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, who received the title on 26th July 1958 till his accession. At an age of 73, Charles is also the oldest person to attain the British throne.

He was born during the reign of his maternal grandfather George VI, as the first child of Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. On 15th December 1948, he was baptised there by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Geoffrey Fisher. Following the death of his grandfather and in 1952 made Charles the heir apparent for the throne. He is the eldest son of Monarch, he received the titles Duke of Cornwall, Baron of Renfrew,Earl of Carrick, Duke of Rothesay,Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland. Charles was present during his mother's coronation at Westminster Abbey on 2nd June 1953.
