Art Laboe was a disc jockey, record producer, songwriter, and radio station owner. He is an American-Armenian. Art was credited with coining the term "Oldies But Goodies". Art Laboe debuted on radio in 1943, during World War II, on KSAN in San Francisco, when he was stationed at Treasure Island. The war had underprivileged the station of technicians. He had a radiotelephone license. He evolved the request-and-dedication concept at KSAN, taking phone calls from the listeners on-air while playing big band and jazz records late night.
