Archived Emails In Gmail

When you archive a message in Gmail, unlike Outlook, it disappears from your Inbox view. As a result, archiving allows you to clean up your inbox by shifting messages from your inbox to your All Mail label instead of deleting them. It's the equivalent of putting something in a filing cabinet for safekeeping rather than the trash can.

How Do You Access Archived Emails In Gmail?

When you switch from Microsoft Outlook to Gmail, one of the first questions is finding my archived emails in Gmail because there was no label called archived emails.

So we have done some research and discovered some exciting things Gmail does with archived emails.

Archived emails are removed from your Gmail Inbox and remain in the All Mails label until you delete them manually. Gmail's archived emails can be found under the "All Mails" label. Gmail filters can also be used to find specific archived emails quickly.

To find your archived emails, first, click on the "More" link in your Gmail's left-hand navigation.

You'll see a label called "All Mail" here; click on it to see all of your emails, including those you've archived.

You already know you can go to the All Mail label and find your archived emails there, but what if you want to find a specific email from someone you archived?

You can use the "in:all" filter to see all emails, including archived ones. You can also add additional criteria to this filter to find specific archived emails.

How To Retrieve Archived Emails In Gmail On iPhone?

At first glance, it may appear that all of your iPhone's archived email messages have vanished because the Mail app lacks a dedicated Archive folder. However, you do not need to be concerned that you have irretrievably lost important archived messages from clients and employees. The Mail app moves every archived message to your email account's All Mail folder instead of an Archive folder. When you find an archived message, you can either return it to its original folder or move it to another folder.

  1. Navigate to the Mailboxes screen on your iPhone by opening the Mail app. To open the Mailboxes screen, for example, if you are in the All Inboxes screen, tap the "Mailboxes" button.

  2. In the Accounts section, tap the name of the email account containing the message you want to retrieve.

  3. To view a list of your messages for that account, tap the "All Mail" folder.

  4. Tap the "Folder" icon after selecting the archived message.

  5. Select the folder to which you want to move the archived message, such as the Inbox. The message is immediately transferred to the folder of your choice.

How To Delete Archived Emails?

Finally, if you need to delete your archived emails, navigate to the All Mail label, select the emails you want to delete, and delete them by clicking the delete button in the menu bar, as shown in the screenshot below.

Using the Gmail filter, you can also quickly delete specific archived emails.
