Shelley’s husband said that Cuomo did that so he could publicly embarrass Shelley and make her powerless in front of everyone. Shelly added that Cuomo should be punished for his actions and she said she would "like to see him journalistically repent." Cuomo admitted to the incident and apologized in a statement: "As Shelley acknowledges, our interaction was not sexual in nature. It happened 16 years ago in a public setting when she was a top executive at ABC. I apologized to her then, and I meant it.” In addition to this his brother Andrew Cuomo has also been accused of sexual abuse. After seeing all this, the public is pressuring Cuomo to resign his job at CNN. Although, it appears Chris won’t be quitting his job because of all these scandals.

Chris said that the break was a long-planned one to celebrate his 51st birthday. “Every year I take my birthday week off,” Chris briefed. “I’m looking forward to it.” Chris returned to his Cuomo Prime Time post on Aug. 16, and defended his actions by saying,
“My position has never changed. I never misled anyone about the information I was delivering or not delivering on this program,” he said. “I never attacked nor encouraged anyone to attack any woman who came forward. I never made calls to the press about my brother’s situation. I never influenced or attempted to control CNN’s coverage of my family.”
