What is Mr Olympia?

The winner of the professional men's bodybuilding competition at Joe Weider's Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend, an annual international bodybuilding contest hosted by the International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness, receives the title of Mr. Olympia (IFBB). Joe Weider started the competition so the Mr. Universe champions could keep competing and making money. On September 18, 1965, the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City hosted the first Mr. Olympia, which Larry Scott won for the first of two consecutive championships. Ms. Olympia, a female bodybuilder and the champion of the fitness and figure competitions, Fitness Olympia and Figure Olympia, are also announced.
