Who Is Yuli Gurriel?

Yuli Gurriel is a professional baseball first baseman player from Cuba. He previously represented Sancti Spiritus in the Major League Baseball (MLB) the Houston Astros, the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), and the Cuban National Series (CNS) team Sancti Spiritus (MLB). Gurriel, won a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics being a former member of Cuba's national team. MLB scouts predicted Gurriel would be a first-round choice if he were to declare for the draught at the 2006 World Baseball Classic. He left Cuba in 2016, the same year he made his big league debut.

He was caught between third base and home plate while attempting to run home to score another run for the Astros on a ground ball. Trey Mancini was added to the lineup in the eighth inning as a replacement for Gurriel.
