Who Is Shane Warne?

Shane Warne was a famous and reputed Australian international cricketer born on 13 September 1969. His career started in 1991 and ended in 2007. Warne represented Victoria, Hampshire, and Australia as a right-arm leg spin bowler and right-handed batsman. One of the best bowlers in history, he played in 145 Test matches, taking 708 wickets and setting the record for the most wickets ever by a bowler in Test cricket, which he held until 2007. With the best score of 99, Warne was a productive lower-order batsman who amassed more than 3,000 Test run totals. After Australia's 2006–07 Ashes series victory over England, he announced his retirement from international cricket.

Warne served as both the team's captain and player-coach for the Rajasthan Royals during the first four seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Throughout his career, Warne was entangled in off-field issues; among his punishments were a cricket ban for testing positive for an illegal substance, as well as accusations of sexual misconduct and tarnishing the sport. With his mastery of leg spin, which at the time was seen to be a dying art, Warne revolutionized cricket thinking. After retiring, he continued to routinely commentate on cricket matches, work for charities, and endorse goods. A statue of Warne bowling was erected outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in honor of his talent, and a grandstand was named after him. He was also given a state memorial service. For his contributions to cricket, Warne received a posthumous appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).

Shane Warne Wife And Children

Warne was married to Simone Callahan from 1999 to 2005, with whom he had children Summer, Jackson, and Brooke. In 2000, Warne lost the Australian vice-captaincy after it was discovered he was sending sexual text messages to a British nurse while still married to Callahan. Two years after divorcing, Warne and Callahan were said to be reconciled in April 2007. But five months later, Callahan once more broke up with Warne after accidentally sending her a text message that was meant for someone else.

After their breakup, Warne dated English star, Elizabeth Hurley. Although it first appeared that their relationship would end after it was revealed that Warne had been sending a married Melbourne businesswoman sex messages, the couple sparked a media frenzy when Hurley moved into Warne's mansion in Brighton, Victoria. Hurley and Warne announced their engagement in late 2011, but by December 2013, they had broken it up. Later, Warne stated, "Elizabeth and I were more in love than I had imagined possible. We had a love that I miss. The happiest years of my life were those I spent with Elizabeth."

Shane Warne Career

In 1992, Warne made his debut on the international stage while wearing the Test jersey. Like other wrist spinners, he had a difficult time getting started. Although there was no question about the abundance of talent he possessed, accuracy was lacking. Warne showed he could pick things up quickly by making what was dubbed the "ball of the century" for Mike Gatting in the Ashes series the very next year. Warne scored 3/14 and 4/42 goals for Australia A against a visiting West Indian team in December 1991 after his return to Australia. Warne was added to the side for the third Test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground a week later because Peter Taylor, the current Australian Test team spinner, had only taken one wicket in the first two Tests.

Before appearing in his maiden Australian Test match, Warne had participated in seven first-class games. He was included in the Australian squad in January 1992 for a Test match at Sydney Cricket Ground against India (SCG). Off 45 overs, he scored 1/150. Warne was chosen for Australia's 1993 Ashes tour of England when he amassed 34 wickets in the six-match series. When he bowled the seasoned English batsman Mike Gatting with his first delivery of the series, it was dubbed the "Ball of the Century" because it twisted from way outside the leg stump to clip the off bail. In 1993, Warne set a record for a spin bowler in terms of Test wickets with 71. His total was greatly boosted by New Zealand batsmen.

Australia played home series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the southern hemisphere summer of 1995–1996. In the first Test against Pakistan, Warne grabbed 11 wickets, but in the second, he broke his toe. He was added to the team for the third Test a few days later so that the selectors could give him a chance to demonstrate his fitness. Warne was voted the series' best bowler after taking four wickets in Pakistan's first innings and four more in their second.

In the fifth Test of the Ashes series in Australia in January 1999, Warne made his comeback to international cricket after sustaining a shoulder injury. He missed the first four Ashes Tests as well as Australia's tour of Pakistan. Stuart MacGill filled in for Warne during his extended absence from the Australian team, taking 15 wickets in three Test matches against Pakistan and another series-high 27 wickets against England. Together, Warne and MacGill bowled to the side in the fifth Ashes Test at the SCG after Warne's return. MacGill claimed twelve wickets, while Warne claimed two.

Warne was kept on as Australia's vice-captain for tours to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka later in 1999 as a result of his World Cup achievements. [66] He participated in every Test of the series against Pakistan and India that summer in Australia. He recorded his highest batting total of 86 in the first Test match against Pakistan in Brisbane. The following month, he matched that total in the first Test match against India in Adelaide.

Warne was named the player of the series after taking six wickets in the third Test and an additional five in each of the first and second innings. On October 15, 2004, during the second Test of Australia's series against India in Chennai, he broke the record for most career wickets in Test cricket. Irfan Pathan was dismissed by Warne when Matthew Hayden caught him at slip. With 533 wickets, Warne now has more than Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka. Five months prior, Courtney Walsh had given the record to Muralitharan, who was injured at the time. Australia won the series 2-1; it was their first series victory in India since 1969.

Warne joined the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2008 as their captain after retiring from international cricket. He was purchased for US$450,000 at the preseason player auction. The Royals won the competition's inaugural season under Warne's leadership. He served as the Royals' captain for a further four seasons, the 2011 campaign being his final with the team.
