Dato' Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak ( Najib Razak) is a politician from Malaysia. He is one of the convicted criminals who held the position of the sixth prime minister of Malaysia for the period of April 2009 to May 2018. He is also the son of former prime minister, Abdul Razak Hussein. Najib Razak had been the chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition from April 2009 to May 2018. He was the president of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) from November 2008 to May 2018. It had handled control of Malaysia's Government with a parliamentary majority for above sixty years till the coalition's defeat in the 2018 general election.
What Happened To Najib Razak?
Malaysia's top court has upheld Najib Razak's conviction and 12-year jail sentence in a case. His case is linked to the looting of the 1MDB state fund. Najib's loss in his final appeal meant that he must start serving his sentence immediately. He is the first former prime minister to be jailed. The five-member Federal Court panel said it identified the high court judge was correct in his judgment and that appeal of Najib did not have any merit. The court confirmed Najib's conviction and sentence.
