What Happened To Frank Wills After Watergate?
An African American night watchman, Frank Wills, discovered an early morning break-in at the Democratic National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., on June 17, 1972. The five men arrested were linked to President Richard Nixon's re-election campaign, sparking a political crisis that led to his resignation.
Wills was born in the Georgia city of Savannah. When he was a child, his parents divorced, and he was primarily reared by his mother, Margie.
Wills studied heavy machine operations in Battle Creek, Michigan, after dropping out of high school in 11th grade and earning his equivalency degree from the Job Corps. In Detroit, Michigan, he obtained an assembly-line job with Ford. Due to health difficulties, including asthma, he had to leave his assembly-line employment. Wills then went to Washington, D.C., where he worked at a few hotels until getting a job as a security guard at the Watergate hotel.
