Aikyashree Scholarship 2020-21

Aikyashree Scholarship, a West Bengal State Government initiative,  in order to address the growing aspiration for knowledge and education in the minority and financially backward communities and to motivate the deserving and talented children belonging to these communities, the Aiksyashree scholarship was introduced. Under the Aikyashree scholarship which is fully funded by the West Bengal State Government,  the entire educational expenses including the hostel stay fees will be free of cost  for meritorious and deserving students of schools and colleges, coming from financially poor backgrounds and those who belong to the minority community. There are three types of Scholarship under the  Aikyashree Scholarship scheme for all meritorious and deserving students.

Aikyashree Scholarship objectives:

Pre-matric Scholarship ( for students from Class-I to Class-X) : The primary objective of the Pre-matric Scholarship is to motivate and encourage  the minority communities to send their children to schools and to prevent drop-out.

Post-matric Scholarship (for students from Class-XI to Ph. D) : The Post-matric scholarship aims  to encourage students to continue their pursuit of higher education.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarships (for pursuing technical & professional courses):The main aim  of Merit-cum-Means scholarship for professional and technical courses is to encourage and support the students to pursue professional / technical studies for increasing their skills to enhance their employability in many official capacities.

Aikyashree Eligibility Criteria:

For Pre-matric Scholarship, and  Post-matric Scholarship (schools and college students) 

- Applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal.

- Should be studying in a School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/ University of the State/ Central Government.

- Should have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.

- Annual family income should not exceed Rs.2 lakh.

- School and college Students studying in institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible for pre-matric or post-matric scholarship.

 For Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (students pursuing professional and technical courses)

- The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.

- Should have got admission in a technical / professional course.

- Should have secured at least 50% marks in the last Higher Secondary/ Graduation examination.

- Yearly family income of the student should not be more than Rs.2.5 lakh.

- The students who are residents of West Bengal but pursuing studies in listed institutions located outside West Bengal, as updated and  notified from time to time by the West Bengal Minorities' Development and Finance Corporation, are eligible for applying.

 Aikyashree Scholarship - Selection Procedure

Scholarships will be provided to eligible students according to merit and subject to the budgetary allocation provided by the State Government. For scholarship renewal, the applicant will be eligible only for the scholarship if the student has obtained 50% marks in the latest examination.
