Step 3: After installation, go to the folder where the game and the dedicated server is installed. The world needs to be created or transferred so that you can play the game.
Follow the procedure for windows: C:UsersUsernameAppDataLocalLowIronGateValheimworlds. Skip the step if the server is being run on the PC already being used.
Step 4: Open the folder where Valheim dedicated server is installed. Locate "start_headless_server" and right-click the file to edit it. The options will look like "start valheim_server -no graphics -batch mode -name (name) -port 2456 -world (name) -password (name) -public 1."
Step 5: The name after the character should be your Valheim server name. The name after the world is the name of your world save, which can't be the same as your server. Choose a password as you wish to, but it should not include the world or server names. To leave the server public:
Leave the number after public as 1.
Make it 0 and change it to private.
Save the file and take a back up when there are updates.
Step 6: Now allow your connections. Head to the router software on your dedicated server PC and open the ports 2456-2458 TCP/UDP. If there is a firewall on the PC server, then open those ports on the firewall.
Step 7: Select a file and run the server. This will bring all the information to the windows and will turn off the server. Now your Viking Valheim world is ready to be played.
