Five new wetlands of International importance are designated in India. The total number of Ramsar sites in the country has increased from 49 to 54 Ramsar sites.

Bhupender Yadav, the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, said, "Delighted to inform that 5 more Indian wetlands have got Ramsar recognition as wetlands of international importance.
The 5 newly designated wetlands are:
Pallikaranai Marsh Reserve Forest, Tamil Nadu
Karikili Bird Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu
Pichavaram Mangrove, Tamil Nadu
Sakhya Sagar, Madhya Pradesh
Pala wetland, Mizoram

The International Cricket Council or ICC confirmed that India will be hosting the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025.

The hosts were chosen through a competitive bidding process overseen by a Board sub-committee chaired by Martin Snedden with Clare Connor, Ricky Skerritt, and Sourav Ganguly.
The ICC Board accepted the committee's recommendations, who performed a thorough review of each bid along with ICC management.
India, England, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka were named as the 4 hosts for ICC women's white-ball events from 2024-27.
