The 46-year-old, who represented Australia in 26 Tests and 198 one-day internationals between 1998 and 2009, was killed in a single-car collision.
Andrew was also an excellent fielder, playing a significant role in Australia's back-to-back 50-over World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007.
He spent 17 seasons with Queensland and stints with Gloucestershire, Kent, Lancashire, and Surrey in the English County Championship, and Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
Symonds, born in England and had one Afro-Caribbean father, is also known for the infamous "monkeygate" affair, which pushed him into a downward spiral. At the 2008 New Year Test in Sydney, he claimed India spinner Harbhajan Singh called him a "monkey."
