S2000 Human-Rated Rocket Booster Of Gaganyaan Mission 2023 Tested Successfully

The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully conducted a static test of a human-rated solid rocket booster at SDSC in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Highlights:

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) completed a static test of a human-rated solid rocket booster (HS200) for the Gaganyaan program at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

  • The HS200 is the human-rated variant of the S200 rocket booster of the satellite launch vehicle GSLV Mk III, also known as LVM3, according to the Bengaluru-based space agency.

  • The completion of this test is a significant step forward for ISRO's renowned Gaganyaan human space flight program, as the first stage of the launch vehicle is assessed for its full-term capability.

  • S Somanath, Chairman of ISRO and Secretary of the Department of Space, and S Unnikrishnan Nair, Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), and other ISRO scientists, attended the ceremony.

  • VSSC in Thiruvananthapuram designed and developed the HS200 booster, while SDSC in Sriharikota completed the propellant casting.

  • The S200 motor, the first stage of the LVM3 launch vehicle, was designed to propel a 4,000 kg class satellite to geosynchronous new orbit as a strap-on rocket booster.

  • RBI performed a statutory inspection for supervisory review of KEB Hana Bank based on its financial situation as of March 31, 2020.
