Where Is The Cast Of 227 Now?

1) Mary Jenkins

Mary Jenkins stood the sovereign of the buzzes and happened to be the greatly adored and esteemed housewife in the apartment tower inhabited by all kinds of cool and kooky folks. If there was one thing you needed to know about Mary, she didn’t take any mess. She’s currently filming Madea’s Witness Protection with Tyler Perry.

2) Helen Martin

Helen Martin was uber-nosey Pearl Bailey on 227 before she got caught up in things like Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, and I Got the Hook-Up. Martin did a lot of movies after the show ended, including the TV movie Something to, Bulworth, Sing About Kiss, the Girls, but she died in 2000 at the young age of 90.

3) Alaina Reed Hall

She was likely the most pleasant resident at 227 and is categorized as a “friend to all.” She was an unmarried mom attempting to play the courting field, and she even had the chance to be the building landlord. Hall’s life has been just as attractive in real life as her characters were on television. She emerged on Sesame Street, married the guy who played Predator, did a lot of voice work, and did a lot of TV work too, appearing on the show Ally McBeal as a judge. The last movie she was in was an interesting one called I’m Through With White Girls with fine a** Lamman Rucker. Sadly, Hall passed away in 2009 at 63 after battling breast cancer.

4) Jackée Harry

Now, as for being all of America's favorite characters on the program, that honor had to go to Jackée Harry for her portrayal of Sandra Clark, the voluptuous maneater. In real life, Harry's character squabbled with Mary around the laws of men and life, and the two had a petty vendetta. After a conflict, Harry clarified on the Wendy Williams Show that the two women were now again friends. Harry attempted but failed to get a spin-off from 227 approved. She's appeared in films like You Got Served, and on TV shows including Celebrity Fit Club, Everybody Hates Chris, Let's Stay Together, and her ex-short-lived husband's reality show, Beverly Hills Fabulous (Elgin Charles).

5) Regina King

Conceivably the favorite 227 characters were Regina King Brenda Jenkins. Mary and Lester's adorable and educated daughter and the girlfriend of fellow 227 resident Calvin Hobbs. She was mad cool too. King moved on to have positions in Poetic Justice, Friday, Jerry Maguire, Boyz n the Hood,  and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. And of course, she's had a lot of television success with shows like 24, and her voice works on The Boondocks and her current smash TNT show, Southland. She's also dating cutie Malcolm-Jamal Warner of Cosby Show fame.

6) Kia Goodwin

Goodwin recreated Rose's daughter, Tiffany Halloway, in the play, while when authors couldn't design her nature, they ended her characterization. Nevertheless, she was discussed on the dramatization; they didn't want to pay her. But she hopped back in Hollywood and held everything from the short-lived UPN show, Platinum, to the movie Swimfan, the "Barbershop" TV series, and most recently (2012), she was in a film called, You're Nobody 'til Somebody Kills You.

7) Hal Williams

Hal Williams is best known to Generation Xers as Officer Smitty from Sanford and Son and the hard-driving Sargent Ross from Private Benjamin (the 80s TV show based on the movie by the same name). In episode 227, Williams portrayed Lester Jenkins, the calm amid Mary Jenkins' and the rest of the cast's chaos. Williams almost soon secured a multi-episode job on The Sinbad Show when the show concluded. He reunited with his co-stars in A Black Lady Sketch Show, reworking his 227 personas, and his most recent gig is as a voice actor in the computer game Disintegration (2020). 8) Curtis Baldwin

Mr. Baldwin recreated the adorable resident of 227 by Calvin Hobbs. Hobbs was the grandson of nosey neighbor Pearl and wound up being the boyfriend of Regina King's character, Brenda. If you want to know what he's been up to…pretty much nothing on TV. He appeared on a TODAY show reunion with a few other 227 regulars, but he's done little film work since the show ended.

9) Countess Vaughn

After slaughtering the contest on Star Search and letting the world know her favorite show was 227, a youthful Countess Vaughn was fortunate enough to be proposed a role on the show as the masterful home guest of the Jenkin family–Alexandra DeWitt. She solely had a part in season four and exited with an intricate story concerning her father's archaeologist moving to London. Behind 227, she rose to prominence on Thea with a youthful Brandy, recreated the hilarious Kim Parker on Moesha with a more aged Brandy, and played the same character on her successful spin-off, The Parkers with Mo'Nique. Since then, she's done chiefly reality TV, including "Celebrity Fit Club" and "Celebrity Rap Superstar" on MTV. Still, she most recently made an appearance on the BET show, Let's Stay Together. She was also one of the first people I knew to publicly announce that she had booty injections…hey, the more you know!

10) Kevin Peter Hall

Kevin Peter Hall played Warren Merriweather, and at 6'9, he grabbed everyone's attention when he showed in season five. After the show, he went on to play the predator in Predator and Predator 2 and the Big Foot-esque character of Harry from Harry and the Hendersons. Hall and Alaina Reed Hall were married in real life. But after contracting HIV from a contaminated blood transfusion, the actor passed away from pneumonia at the age of 35 in 1991.
