Spirited Away Characters
1) Chihiro Ogino
Despite the fact that she is only a young girl, Spirited Away's protagonist matures dramatically over the film's coming-of-age storey. Unfortunately for Chihiro, most of the conflict she faces throughout the film stems from her apparent lack of authority. She's not just a child, but also a mortal, and many of the strange spirits she finds around the baths are far superior to her in terms of supernatural ability. Despite being compelled to work in the bathhouse as a low-ranking employee, she is intelligent enough to gain her own freedom, as well as that of Haku and her parents.

2) Haku
Haku is one of Spirited Away's most beloved characters, and for good reason. Yubaba's reluctant henchman is a charmer and a great friend to Chihiro, but he's also one of the film's most powerful spirits. Unfortunately for Haku, much of the film finds him at the whims of his coercive employer.

3) Yubaba
The film's de-facto villain and evil bathhouse owner wields the most power over the plot, and she displays a level of absolute power that surpasses that of any other character. She initiates Chihiro's entire stay in the spirit realm by converting the latter's parents into pigs, she can fly, and she possesses a wide range of psychic talents. But much of Yubaba's power stems from her contractual connections with her numerous employees, some of whom she completely controls owing to their inability to remember their own names. Chihiro is no match for Yubaba in terms of raw force as a mortal youngster, but she manages to outsmart the fearsome sorceress.

4) Zeniba
Yubaba's twin sister, Zeniba, is a witch who is visually identical to the bathhouse owner but has a very different disposition. Her magical prowess makes her one of the film's most obvious powerful characters. In a violent conflict Chihiro observes when Zeniba's flock of paper birds attacks Haku's dragon form, she is one of only two people in the film who can defeat Haku (who is clearly a significant river spirit). Although viewers aren't shown many of Zeniba's tricks, she is able to wreck havoc in Yubaba's bathing suite in the limited time she is there, transfiguring two of the latter's minions (as well as her baby).

5) Kamaji
Viewers see more of Kamaji's wisdom than his raw power, but it's implied that the ancient spirit and boiler-man is a major player in the spirit world. Not only does he have artifacts and memories from times long past, like the train tickets he gives Chihiro, but he also possesses the unique ability to craft magically enhanced soaks, baths, and assumedly other elixirs. His magic powers aren't anything to scoff at, either, as Kamaji demonstrates the ability to animate the ample soot contained in the boiler room into hundreds of four-limbed helpers.

6) Lin
Lin isn't the most powerful spirit in the bathhouse, but she does play the role of grunt. She serves as Chihiro's trainer and explains the young girl the ropes of working as a cleaner as a little higher-ranking employee. Later, in her and Chihiro's room, she admits that she is trapped in a profession she despises.

7) No-Face
In the spirit world, No-Face is an outlier. While many of the other inhabitants of the magical realm appear to be linked and speak frequently, he is a non-verbal nomad who can vanish at will and only develops a voice after swallowing others. Although several spirits appear to have superhuman talents, none will be able to stop No-Face once he takes over the bathhouse in a gluttonous takeover. Although the staff initially cater to his every desire in exchange for the seemingly endless supply of gold No-Face can provide, things rapidly deteriorate and he begins to devour innocent spirits. Only Chihiro's plan to feed No-Face an unique cake provided to her by the scary river spirit succeeds in putting an end to his rampage.

8) Boh
Boh is Yubaba's offspring, a massive infant with the extraordinary capacity to speak whole phrases and a high level of critical thinking when compared to a human infant. He demonstrates to Chihiro a sophisticated ability to manipulate Yubaba's actions, unsurprisingly by throwing fits, in addition to his physical height, which makes him a handful for even his mother to control. Despite this, Zeniba neutralises him and turns him into a little mouse for the majority of the movie.

9) & 10) Akio Ogino & Yuko Ogino
Despite the fact that Chihiro's parents are absolutely charming characters for the brief time they appear in Spirited Away, they are unquestionably among the film's least compelling characters. When they deviate from their intended journey and pull their daughter along to investigate an abandoned settlement, they almost instantly fall victim to a trap that turns them into oblivious animals. The mortal couple lacks not just the magical abilities to navigate the spirit world, but also the street smarts that will allow their daughter to survive her time in the ghostly realm and save them.
