Shatter Me Age Rating

Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me is suitable for readers aged 14 and up. Because of the high level of violence and sexual content in this book, it may be inappropriate for children under 14.

Juliette has been secluded and malnourished in an asylum for almost a year when she is told she will have a roommate in SHATTER ME. When a man walks in, steals her bed, and leaves her to sleep on the floor, she is stunned. Despite this, she treats him with kindness by touring him around the asylum. This man, Adam, wants to know why she's there as they get to know each other. She can only tell him not to touch her and that horrible things happen.

When Juliette thinks she's made a friend, soldiers arrive and haul them away, and Juliette discovers who Adam is: a soldier hired to spy on her and ensure she's still sane. Juliette will be sent to an army base and serve as the local commander's latest killing toy.

Shatter Me, Unravel Me, Ignite Me, Restore Me, Defy Me, and Imagine Me are the six books in the series. The Shatter Me trilogy comes to a close with Ignite Me. This work is primarily a love triangle between Juliet, Adam, and Warner, mainly focusing on Warner's relationship with Juliette. The war against the Reestablishment is relegated to a backdrop for the love tale.

Shatter Me Book Review

This intense, emotional, and erotic dystopian thriller filled with tortured souls and physical prose is impossible to put down. Many teenagers will love the novel's poetic style, while others will find it not fitting at the moment. It's written in the present tense, with a strong emphasis on movement and many cross-out marks to emphasize what the main character is trying to hide.

Juliette despises the pain she can cause others, has grudges against her neglectful parents but wishes to forgive them, and despises her unfulfilled dreams. In her mind, these urges are forbidden, which adds to the drama of the love tale. As the plot progresses, Shatter Me will remind you of X-Men. We also have no idea why people like Juliette exist. Or whether it has anything to do with her dystopian world's current status. However, it's evident that this series is still heating up, and many teenagers will want to join in on the action.

Shatter Me Parents Guide

Parents should know that Shatter Me is the first installment in Tahereh Mafi's dystopian romance series. It's the third installment in a trilogy that includes Unravel Me and Ignite Me. There is also a sequel trilogy, as well as four novellas, using the same characters. The first novella, Destroy Me, is included in newer editions of Shatter Me and explains much of the story from the villain's perspective. This series combines two frequent dystopian themes: what the planet might look like after people have wreaked havoc on the ecosystem and what might happen if a totalitarian regime takes power. Juliette, the primary character, and two other characters are abused and neglected as children.

Juliette is malnourished and isolated in an asylum as the story begins. Gunshots, injuries, a brief sexual assault, and reports of children being harmed or murdered are all part of the violence. Swearing is common, but it rarely goes beyond "s—t." Characters kiss, grope and remove clothing while discussing their desire for sex. The concept of Power is at the soul of "Shatter Me." Some people are hungry for it and use it to manipulate others, and those born with it show restraint and appreciation for it.
