Significance Of Satyanarayan Vrat Dates 2021
The Satyanarayana Katha is believed to be written in the Skanda Puraṇa, where a poor Brahmin was approached by Lord Vishnu Himself in disguise and advised him of observing the Satyanarayan Vrat and conduct puja. Observing the vrat strictly and performing the puja, the Brahmin experienced divine consciousness and attained eternal bliss. Satya Narayana puja is a sacred ritual followed by many states in India especially northern India like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bengal, and in south India states like Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh. The Satyanarayana Puja is also performed on special occasions and as an offering of gratitude to the Lord Vishnu. These occasions could be during house warming ceremonies and marriage functions and the beginning of a new venture. This pooja is also performed by childless couples. The Satyanarayan Vrat is considered to be auspicious on a full moon phase and therefore the puja is conducted in the evening.

Satya Narayan Vrat Puja is usually performed on the Full moon day of every month. Devotees should observe the fast on this day from early sunrise till next day sunrise. Performing Satyanarayan Puja in the evening is considered more auspicious as devotees can view the moon and pray to the divine. Puja rituals are done by worshipping Lord Satyanarayan with offerings of milk, honey, ghee and sugar. Sweet offerings of roasted flour of wheat, banana and other fruits are used in the ritual. The Puja concludes with performing an Aarti, which is lighting the lamp, burning the camphor, agarbathis and chanting mantras.
