Sahitya Akademi Award 2020 Winners List
The second most prestigious award, Sahitya Akademi was granted to 20 Indian writers, among them were senior congress leader, M Veerappa Moily and renowned poet, Arundhathi Subramaniam. The winners of Sahitya were presented with 1 Lakh rupees along with a casket containing engraved copper plaque and a shawl. Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award 2021
The Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award 2021 Winners list which was updated on 12th march 2021, consists of 7 poetry, 4 novels, 5 short stories, 1 Epic poem, 2 plays and 1 memoir, written by 20 authors in 20 different Indian languages. Arunthathi Subramaniam is the overall Sahitya Akademi award 2021 winner for her poetry “When God is a traveller” written in English language. The first person to win this award was R.K Narayanan for his novel “The Guide”, in 1960. In the course of time, Kendra Sahitya Akademi has instituted separate categories of awards to acknowledge other streams of writing as well. The Award Bhasha Shamman is awarded for outstanding work in translation, while Yuva Puraskar is awarded to young writers below the age of 35 and Bal Sahitya Puraskar award is conferred to the writers of children’s books.

Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award 2021 Winners
Kerala Sahitya Akademi is an autonomous body which gives special recognition to malayalam literature. It was established in the year 1956 by a former king named Chithira Thirunal Balarama varma. The current chairman of Kerala Sahitya Akademi award is K P Mohanan. The laureates of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award 2021 winners will be awarded with the cash prize of Rs. 50, 000 along with a plaque. Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award has been conducted every year since 1958. There are various categories of awards for different genres of writings in malayalam literature. Malayalam writers such as Sethu and perumbadavam were awarded with fellowship award followed by lifetime achievement akademi award for the writers above the age of 60, to honor their contribution towards malayalam literature. The Sahitya Akademi award is different from the Kerala Sahitya Akademi award. The person who has bagged Sahitya Akademi Award 2021 for malayalam is Omchery N.N Pillai for a memoir called Akasmikam, who has also bagged Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award twice.
