The story behind Pradosh Vrat and its significance goes like this. A wealthy trader lived . With all the comforts and luxuries of life, but was not blessed with a child. One day, out of sheer sorrow, he left with his wife for a Teerth Yatra (pilgrimage), after entrusting his business responsibilities to his employees. When the sage finished his meditation and laid his eyes on the trader, he learned immediately about the cause of his sorrow. Hence, after returning from the pilgrimage, he asked the couple to observe the Shani Trayodashi Vrat. The trader and his wife, as suggested by the sage, kept a vrat on the day of Pradosh that concurred with Shanivar. And the trader's wife conceived a few days later. Thus the trader and his spouse were blessed with sincere devotion and an unshakeable faith for pleasing Shani Dev and Lord Shiva.
Importance Of Pradosh Vrat in 2020
In Hinduism, Pradosh Vrat is considered as of special importance. The Pradosh Vrat is observed on both Trayodashi Tithis, that is on Shukla Paksha Trayodashi and Krishna Paksha Trayodashi, every month according to the lunar calendar. The first day of Shravan's Pradosh fast is July 18, 2020, Saturday. Shravan month is considered to be Lord Shiva's beloved month, and Pradosh is his special worship day. This time Saturn comes along with Pradosh making Shani Pradosh a special coincidence. According to religious beliefs, fasting to worship Lord Shiva on Pradosh Day gives relief from Shani's suffering. This time in the month of Shravan the first Shani Pradosh is falling on July 18 and the second on August 1, 2020
