Padma Awards 2022

Padma awards are the highest civilian awards given to the excellent service in the respective field, the recipients are committed to selfless social service. Padma awards were initiated in 1954. They are announced on Republic day. The award was received by 1270 civilians as of 2020, which includes 24 posthumously and 97 non-citizen recipients. The award is given in three categories:

  • Padma Vibhushan (formerly known as Pahela Varg) - Exceptional and Distinguished service.

  • Padma Bhushan  (formerly known as Dusra Varg) - Distinguished service of a high order.

  • Padma Shri (formerly known as Tisra Varg) - Distinguished service.

  • Literature & Education - includes Journalism, Teaching, Book composing, Literature, Poetry, Promotion of education, Promotion of literacy, Education Reforms etc.

  • Civil Service - includes distinction/excellence in administration etc. by Government Servants

  • Sports - includes popular Sports, Athletics, Adventure, Mountaineering, promotion of sports, Yoga etc.

  • Others - fields not covered above and may include propagation of Indian Culture, protection of Human Rights, Wild Life protection/conservation etc.

Process For Padma Awards 2022 Nominations

Padma Awards 2022 is called People’s Padma. Now the general public can also nominate their favourite civilian in Padma Awards 2022. Padma Awards 2022 Nominations should have all the relevant information in detail in a specified format available on Padma Portal.  One should write an 800 words citation about the service of the nominated person in the given format. 

Padma Awards 2022 Nominations Process - Self-nomination

  • Visit the official Padma Awards 2022 Nominations website

  • Select Padma Awards 2022 Nomination and click on the BY CITIZEN option.

  • Register yourself by entering valid details to proceed further.

  • Go to the user menu to nominate yourself.

  • Upload the required documents in PDF format.

  • After filling in all the necessary details, save the form as a draft.

  • After the final Submission, editing/modifying the details in the nomination process is not possible. 

  • You can edit and modify the information in a saved draft. 

  • You can proceed with the final submission after editing the given information according to the prescribed format.

Padma Awards 2022 Nominations Process - To Nominate Others By Authorities

  • Visit the official Padma Awards 2022 Nominations website

  • Select Padma Awards 2022 Nomination and click on the BY AUTHORITY option.

  • Choose the authority type and proceed with the registration process.

  • If you are a registered user, proceed to log in.

  • Search for any existing/desired nomination. If there are no results, you can proceed to the new nomination process.

  • If there is a desired Padma Awards 2022 nomination, select the nominee.

  • Now upload the recommendation letter and other required documents in PDF format

  • Also do not forget to submit an 800-word citation for the nominee.

  • Save the form as a draft, it allows you to edit and modify the information.

  • One cannot edit or modify the details in the nomination process after the final Submission.
