New PS4 System Update 8.00
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is launching New PS4 System Update 8.00 today globally. The announcement was confirmed by Sony. Gamers are reminded to avail the New PS4 System Update 8.00 with a wired connection via a Local area network (LAN) cable to download the update.
PS4 System Software Update
The PS4 System Software Update 8.00 includes changes to Party and Messages features, new avatars, updated parental controls, updated parental controls, enhanced 2-step verification, updates to the Remote Play app, and more. Party and Messages Updates
Following PS4 System Software Update 8.00, Party and Messages will be more tightly linked together. With this update, you can see changes to the user interface UI. The two apps will now use the same Groups of players for Party voice chats and message exchanges. Earlier, the apps had different groups setup. With this latest update, you can now start a Party chat or send a message to the group you’ve previously chatted with across PS4, and also PS5 when it launches.
In the New PS4 Software Update, the collection of pre-set avatars are showcase on the Profile of the players. An array of new avatars from your favourite games including Ghost of Tsushima, Bloodborne, Journey, God of War, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, The Last of Us Part II, The Last of Us Remastered, etc will be available,
Mute all Mics from Quick Menu
The New PS4 Software Update has added a new option “Mute all Microphones” in the Quick Menu. With this, you can easily mute your mics while gaming.
Simplified and more flexible Parental Controls
Under Parental Controls, the ‘Communicating with Other Players’ and ‘Viewing Content Created by other Players’ are combined into one setting with the title "Communication and User Generated Content". This combo will cover both areas of communication and UGC sharing. This new feature will offer a simpler setting which will make it easier for parents to understand and apply to their children. Also, the children can send a request to their parents to use communications features in specific games. When a child sends the request, an email notification will be sent to the parents. The parents can choose to make an exception for that game and allow the child to use its communications and UGC features. This feature will provide more flexibility to both children and their parents.
Enhanced 2-Step Verification
In the New PS4 System Update 8.00, the 2-Step Verification (2SV) feature on PS4 has been enhanced. This will now support the third-party authenticator apps as an option during the activation flow and 2SV sign-in across PlayStation 4, mobile and web.
Removal of Event Creation and Private Community Creation
After New PS4 System Update 8.00, the players will not be able to create Events or access existing Events that are created by other users. The ability to create private Communities has been removed under the Community app on PS4. But If you have an existing private Communities already, you can continue to access them.
Updates to Remote Play App on PC and Smartphones
With the New PS4 System Update 8.00, the existing PS4 Remote Play app on iOS/Android, Windows PC and Mac, will change its name to PS Remote Play. Also, the option to connect to PS5 will be added. The players must sign in to PSN from your PS5 to be able to access the feature. PS5 is expected to be launched this November.
