Naziha Salim Wiki
Naziha Salim was an Iraqi artist, educator, and novelist dubbed "the first Iraqi woman who established the pillars of Iraqi contemporary art" by the country's president, Jalal Talabani. She wrote Iraq: Contemporary Art, a history of modern Iraqi art published by Sartec in 1977 and is still considered a vital source for the early growth of Iraq's modern art movement.
Her paintings include women and families, including her own family, rural Iraqi ladies, peasant women, working women, and Mesopotamian and Arab goddesses. She was involved in several experimental movements, and her work frequently depicted changes in women's life. Salim and her contemporaries "contributed to the opening up of new cultural, social, and political spaces" due to this.
