National Fossil Day 2022
National Fossil Day is a nationwide celebration that promotes paleontology's scientific and educational value and the importance of preserving fossils for future generations. National Fossil Day 2022 is Wednesday, October 12. In 2022 National Fossil Day will celebrate its 13th anniversary of National Fossil Day. Paleontologists identify the remnants of animals, insects, and plant life that once lived and grew up on the earth; these creatures lived hundreds, thousands, and millions of years ago, leaving a record that provides clues to the earth's history. Through its importance of tremendous scientific value, we celebrate National Fossil Day on the Wednesday of the second week in October this year which is held on October 12.

When Is National Fossil Day?
National Fossil Day was founded in the United States by a Senior paleontologist from the National Park Service in 2010. Vincent L. Stannuci is called as "Father of National Fossil Day." Fossils are proof of the existence of once-living things (like dinosaurs, animals, plants, and even DNA remnants). We can learn a lot about life from billions of years ago through these fossils. National Fossil Day is celebrated nationwide as a celebration and partnership to promote fossils' scientific and educational values. The first National Fossil Day was established on October 13, 2010, as a fossil-focused day during Earth Science Week. Currently, 420 partners in all 50 states provide opportunities to educate the public about fossils, their importance, the science of paleontology, and America's paleontological heritage. It includes museums, fossil sites, science organizations, amateur groups, and other entities. Paleontologists keep digging the fossils, and they identify, classify, and organize fossils based on their characteristics. From the microscopic fossils of an arthropod to the gigantic titanosaur, humans continue to be fascinated with fossils.
