National Educational Support Professionals Day
National Educational Support Professionals Day, is celebrated on 17th November 2021. Most people think of teachers when they think about Education Support Professionals. They are, however, the folks who drive the buses, maintain the facilities, cook the meals, and patch scraped knees in public and private schools across the country. Because they make up more than 40% of the school's workforce, their occupations are sometimes disregarded. Education Support Professionals Day was created to reward them for their hard work and services to their schools and students due to their long work hours and main activity with student safety.
The name of the holiday was changed from "Educational Support Personnel" to "Education Support Professionals" in 2002 to properly reflect the pride and vital role that ESPs play in public education. According to NEAToday.com, According to a recent NEA survey of its ESP members, 80 per cent work full time, 72 per cent work in a school building, 53 per cent care for students with special needs, and 61 per cent give money out of their own pockets (an average of $170 per year) to help students with classroom supplies and field trips. As a result of this intensive and costly time, ESPs deserve to be thanked over this Christmas season.
How to celebrate Education Support Professionals Day?
Sending a request for a declaration of the holiday is a huge step. Choose one of your political authorities to approach sponsoring a proclamation for National ESP Day. You can write to a federal or state representative, a federal or state senator, a governor, a mayor, or a member of the city council. You can then wait for their response after sending a letter to your political leaders demanding a proclamation for National ESP Day. You can also show your support for ESP Day on social media and inform your friends about it by using the hashtag #EducationSupportProfessionalsDay. You can also invite your local newspaper, radio station, or television station to participate in the day by writing to the editor or manager of the company. You can also give thank you notes and gift certificates to people you know who are ESPs.

National Educational Support Professionals Day - History
Educational Support Professionals Day was created to honour and appreciate the efforts of ESPs to public education institutions. It takes place during American Education Week, a week-long celebration honouring ESPs with holidays and celebrations. In the United States, the National Education Association (NEA) established the day. The National Education Association (NEA) was founded in 1857 and was originally known as the National Teachers Association (NTA). It was founded when ten state education associations banded together to pool their resources and efforts in order to better serve students through an effective public education model. The NTA was renamed the National Education Association (NEA) in 1870.
In the 1980s, the Association recognised ESPs as important players in public education and granted them full membership rights in the NEA. The National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly stated in 1987 that it would establish a special day to recognise and appreciate the achievements of instructional support workers in public schools. The news prompted the establishment of National Education Support Personnel Day, which has since become an annual event. In 2002, the name 'National Education Support Personnel Day' was changed to National Educational Support Professionals Day to honour the support staff's professional efforts in ensuring that our public schools function smoothly and that learning takes place.
